The science behind car suspension is very complex indeed. Over many decades it has evolved, spurred on by motorsport and consumer demand. This is because, as well as affecting how a car looks, suspension fundamentally affects how a car performs.

As a result, modifications to suspension are a key element of the aftermarket automotive industry. This is where consumers take their rides and make certain additions or alternations in order to enhance how the car looks, feels and even races.

These days, there are all sorts of things that you can do to improve or change the performance of your car’s suspension. For instance, you could install lowering springs to lower your cars ride height, or you could introduce coilovers which can impact on your car’s behaviour in various different ways.

Broadly speaking, the goal of good suspension is about striking a balance between lots of opposing aims and forces at work on your vehicle. For instance, you might crave a lower ride height, however this could run the risk of having a negative impact on your car’s overall comfort.

If your car’s suspension is not balanced then it will not be fulfilling the goal of its performance. Alternatively, if you have a very specific aim in mind, such as racing or participating in competitions then you might wish to tweak your car’s suspension accordingly, which lowering kits or coilover kits.

For better functioning of the auto air conditioner it’s important that the Air Conditioner Parts are been maintained properly and checked in the regular intervals. There are few simple steps that can be followed and are been used by the mechanics to see if the air conditioner parts are working fine.
First of all you need to understand how an auto air conditioner functions and what is the role of each part? This information is available over net, in car ac manual and also can be understood with the help of any mechanic.
Now the second step is that we need to check if the refrigerant is leaking. The common refrigerant that is been used these days is R-134a. One thing we must understand here is small leakage is ok, but if all R-134a leaks out, this means that there is nothing in the machine that will remove the heat from the air flowing in the air conditioner engine. This needs to be fixed immediately and will need ac machine to be opened. There is one more way to check the leaks, which can be done by putting fluorescent dye most widely available in the auto shops.
Now the next check that can be done is to check that the compressor is turning. This can do by switching on the ac and then checking under the hood, if the compressor pulley is not rotating then the compressor is not doing its job. We can also check for other Air Conditioner Parts whether they are working fine or not, like we can check for bad fuses, bad switches, broken fan belt which prevents the turning of the pump, broken wires, or seal failure inside the compressor.

Hailed by many as the most beautiful car ever to come out of Japan, The Mazda RX-7 took seventeen years of development before it finally appeared on the streets in 1978.

Without the perseverance of a team of Japanese motor engineers and designers under the leadership of Kenichi Yamamoto, in the development of the Wankel or rotary engine, this stunningly designed, high performance sports car, would never have happened.

In 1961 the Japanese Company Toyo Kogyo, later to be renamed Mazda, licensed from the patent owners NSU-Opel of Germany, the full rights to develop a new rotary engine.

The Rotary engine was named after its inventor Wankel and had no pistons or crankshaft as such, but consisted of a simple fuel injected rotor blade that span around a central drive-shaft that was connected to a rear wheel differential for drive.

In theory the rotary engine is far superior, through its simplicity in design, than a conventional piston combustion engine, with much less moving parts to go wrong and direct drive power output.

Yamamoto’s team at Mazda set to work on developing a rotary engine that would overcome the problems of loss of compression, exhaust, and the overheating of the rotor blades tips, that had limited Opels success at developing the technology in the 1950′s.

After success with earlier RX models the RX-2, RX-3 and RX-5 and despite financial problems at the company, Mazda finally came up with the larger 12A engine which was fitted to the new Mark 1 RX-7 built from 1978 until 1980 and the series 2 built from 1981 to 1983.

The Mazda Rx-7 was a two seater plus two hardtop sports coupe, curvaceous and aerodynamic and it immediately caught the imagination of the motoring world which globally hailed it as an instant design classic. The design of the car was built entirely around the engine and exhaust configuration.

A bi-rotor engine putting out what was seen as equivalent of just 550 bhp per rotor the 12A in the RX-7 was capable of speeds of over 130 mph and with high low-end torque reached from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.3 seconds. Officially its bhp was just 100 horse power but given how light the car was, it was often described as like driving a skateboard, the power to weight ratio gave it an output equivalent to 230 bhp.

Exhilarating to drive because of the smoothness inherent in the movement of the Wankel rotary engine, little vibration or shaking was felt at high engine speeds. An alarm was fitted to the rev counter to warn the driver when the 7000 rpm redline was approaching. If you exceeded it or did not heed the alarm the engine would cut out to protect the ceramic rotor tips from overheating.

The car was expensive to run, the engine consuming around 20 miles to the gallon but at half the price of a Porsche and with all the trimming such as electric windows and sun-roofs, the RX-7 was sought by young and old alike. Over 475,000 cars were sold with the original Mark 1 design.

The RX-7 was loved by good and bad alike and appeared in many TV shows, commercials and films.

In Japan the car was adopted by the original Tokyo Drifters and street racers due to its speed and handling. In the UK a modified Turbo version of the 12A RX-7 built by Elford engineering held the unofficial record for the fastest night-time lap of the circular M25 motorway that rings London, for 5 years.

The MG is a British brand of sports car, which has been around for over eighty years. Although the last model of the MG went bankrupt in 2005, the ownership has been moved to Nanjing Automobile Group, who plan to produce the cars once again in 2007. The “MG” name stood for “Morris Garages”, who was a car dealership in Oxford. The company started creating customized cars with designs from Cecil Kimber, who eventually became the General Manger of the company. Now, under its new ownership, the “MG” is going to stand as “Modern Gentleman”. Zhang Xin, the boss of the group, says that he wants “to see that this brand represent grace and style”.

Although MG is mostly known for their two-seat sports cars, the company has also produced coups and saloons. The company was originally based in Oxford, but in 1925, one year after it was created, MG moved to the larger Bainton Road premises, due to high demand for the vehicles. After the car was finally shown at the London Motor Show, demand of their cars went higher still and they were forced to move again. In 1929, MG moved to their permanent location, which is Abingdon, Oxfordshire. In 1935, William Morris, the owner, sold the company to Morris Motors. The consequences of this deal were that the British Motor Corporation would later absorb the MG brand in 1952. During the 1960s, British Leyland had control of the brand, but was in trouble due to a lagging economy. Up until 2005, the MG brand was part of the MG Rover Group, which was based in Longbridge, Birmingham.

The original 1924 model MG, known as the MG 14/28, was essentially a sports car body on a Morris Oxford steel frame. It wasn’t until 1929 that the popular vertical MG grille was finally on the car. The main sports car that MG created was in the Midget series. The car company quickly got recognition as it did quite well in international automobile racing. A more modern sports car was built in 1962 due to high demand for the company to create a more modern car.

Unfortunately, due to the numerous ownership trades and financial problems, the car company ran out of steam in 2005. There are rumors that Project Kimber might want to work with Nanjing, the group that now has the rights to the MG name, in order to create a new sports car inspired by the design of the discontinued microcar Smart Roadster.

Classic Car shows make a great day out for almost anybody, of any age. If you already own a classic, then shows and Auto-Jumbles provide a great opportunity to meet up with like minded enthusiasts, and to discuss the merits of your car and it’s marque. If you don’t own one yet, then the chance see a range of classic cars both mundane and exciting, immaculate and untidy, can be very enjoyable. That’s especially true of you can see the cars that you yearned for in your youth.

Those with families often feel that while a day out looking at classic cars would suit them, it wouldn’t be much fun for the family. It can seem that their fun and enjoyment would be undermined by the obvious lack of enjoyment from the rest of the family. Surely it can not be long before the kids are asking “is it time to go home yet?”.

But my experience with friends and relatives from 4 to 40 is that far from being boring and uninteresting, classic shows are an exciting place to be! Youngsters are often fascinated by how cars used to be in “the olden days”. Older children discover the beauty of supercars from the past, before cars were designed by computer. Who can remain unmoved by grace of a classic Jaguar, Lamborghini or Maserati?

Why not try it? Some summer shows also have funfairs and entertainment – such as The Bromley Pageant of Motoring. Others include entertainment and even Air Displays – look at The Hampshire Pageant of Motoring.

How can you find out about what shows are on? Check the web for event listings nationwide or around the world. Classic-CarShow.com is a good place to start. Shows and events are listed for each month, with plenty of information to help you make your choice. And once you have decided where to go, route planner feature quickly provides a route map and directions. Now that it’s so easy, why not go for that great day out?

Cadillac automobiles are very popular vehicles and they offer a wide range of features and designs straight from the factory. However, if you have very specific tastes and needs, or if you are a car fanatic, you might be wondering what you can do to give your Cadillac a more personalized look and feel. If you want to know how you can design your own Cadillac CTS with custom aftermarket accessories, this article has the information that you need.

Today, there are quite a few CTS models available from Cadillac. These include a Sport Sedan, Coupe, Sport Wagon, and CTS-V Sedan. There is also a CTS-V Coupe. The CTS models all feature a contemporary design, the classic Cadillac emblem, and luxury interiors.

There are a number of customizations that you can request when purchasing one of these vehicles from your local Cadillac auto dealer. For example, you can select the power of the engine, the type of wheels that are included, and what types of headlamps or tail lights the car need to have. In addition, you can also request backup cameras, sport spoiler, molded splash guards, heated seats and much more.

For car lovers who want to personalize their Cadillac automobiles, the factory options may not be enough. If this is the case, there are many companies that sell a number of products that can help you further customize your Cadillac.

Today, you can purchase custom floor mats, trunk spoilers, rear roof spoilers, painted sport vents and chrome accessories for your car. If you love the look of chrome, you can outfit your Cadillac with chrome fender trim, mirror cover overlay, license plate frames, stainless exhaust tips, door handle covers, and pillar posts. Chrome products will last for a very long time and they are also very eye-catching. For the interior, there are also accessories to consider; navigation system, monogrammed floor mats or molded floor liners, seat savers, sunshades, audio upgrade and wood dash trim kit.

If you want to make the front of your Cadillac look even more appealing, you might want to consider adding a custom grille, chrome fog light bezel or a lower accent grille. Custom grilles come in a wide variety of materials, such as aluminum and stainless steel, and finishes, like color match, chrome and silver. Many custom grilles are made from high quality metals that are incredibly durable and they will also stay clean. Lower accent grilles, on the other hand, can be placed below the existing grille to add an extra personal touch without making a large change to the look of your vehicle. Some even feature finishes which mimic the sparkle of small diamonds.

One of the most recognised and plagiarised car designs in the World, immortalised in films such as The Italian Job, the Mini became an icon of British design during the swinging sixties in London and around the globe.

The Mini was the brainchild and end product of a two year research project by the chain-smoking Sir Alec Issigonis for the British Motor Company (BMC) started in 1957 and launched to an astounded public in 1959.

The Mini was born out of economic necessity and demonstrated the differences in the mindsets of US and British car owners at the time.

In America, multi-laned freeways were springing up everywhere and the 1950′s was a time of indulgence in classic muscle cars and massive engined saloons. Fuel and economy was not a consideration.

However in Europe the mindset and zeitgeist was totally different, with the first two lane UK motorway not opened until 1959.

In 1956 petrol rationing had been reintroduced in the UK due to the Suez Crisis. When Egyptian leader General Nasser shut the Suez Canal, Britain’s largest oil supplier of the time, Burmah Oil, which operated out of Persia, had to find alternative and much longer routes.

Demand for sales of small economic to run cars soon outstripped supply and this gap was filled by the famous two seater ‘bubble cars’ and other strange machines of German origin like the gull winged doors on the three wheeled Messerschmitt Kabinenroller (cabinscooter) KR175 and KR200.

Against this background, BMC commissioned Issigonis to come up with a world-beating small car to replace its aging Morris Minor, a previously untested idea.

The Mini’s ingenious concept and design meant it offered a staggeringly large amount of interior space for what was essentially a 10 foot long car. The short wheelbase meant the Mini was extremely maneuverable and the car only weighed just 587 kg.

When Issigonis set to work he imagined an ultra compact cube to house four passengers, fronted by a space-saving front wheel drive system. However in a flash of genius he positioned the engine transversely across the engine well with the gearbox underneath it, to keep the drive-train super compact and outside his cube, and in doing so he invented the transverse engine.

The prototypes were fitted with a 950cc Morris Minor engine which could reach speeds of 92 mph, but the production car was first released with a more limited 848cc BMC engine that had a top speed of 72 mph.

Every available space was utilised in the design of the BMC Mini.

The car had tiny ten inch wheels in very tight wheel arches. Inside the car was basic with novel storage drawers in the doors but nowhere to put a radio on a small dialled facia. Issigonis did however include an ashtray!

Issigonis couldn’t have possibly known that his cube car would go on to be voted in 1999 the second most influential car ever built, behind the Model T Ford.

BMC launched the first Mini Mark 1 in August 1959 under the brands Austin Seven Mini and Morris Mini Minor. They were manufactured at the respective Austin and Morris plants at Longbridge in Birmingham and Cowley down the road in Oxford.

The basic Mini cost just 496 when it was launched, the cheapest car in Britain.

Despite rapidly developing a cult following, and the car being driven by Stars such as Steve McQueen, Paul McCartney and Margot Fonteyn, initial sales were extremely slow and by the end of 1960 only 116,000 Minis had been sold, way below BMC’s production capacity.

The car didn’t reach its peak sales for another eleven years when in 1971 318,475 new Minis were sold.

It was also rumored by competitors Ford that the basic BMC Mini cost more to produce than it was sold for.

BMC responded by saying that the profits were made by having additional extras to the basic model, such as a radio, but on inspection the records show that the Mini did not make a profit for the company until 1982.

Jeep Cherokee can be viewed as the pioneer of the modern SUVs. Cherokee was one of the first cars to make use of the monocoque design instead of the traditional body-on-frame chassis. The recognition of this Jeep model could be understood because still it remains among the best selling Jeeps ever. The Cherokee design was considered by auto experts to become near perfect.

Cherokee was manufactured by the AMC (American Motor Company) under the Jeep family name till 2002. Jeep Liberty has carried on the platform since that time. Regarded as among the toughest Jeeps ever, Cherokee has a trustworthiness of its own among the Jeep clan. Not many Jeep models can boast of the type of personality that the Jeep Cherokee has. There are a number of individuals across America who own a Cherokee and I can promise you that of these are proud of owning this vehicle.

If you own a Jeep Cherokee today, you’d accept me that there weren’t many instances when you needed to replace some of its parts. However, if it is a piece of equipment, there’s bound to be some occasional wear and tear. In this era when Jeep Cherokee is considered as a vintage, what does one do if the Cherokee auto part is required?

In case you are wondering whether Jeep still sells auto parts for Cherokee, the answer is well, I’m not too sure. I can think of lots of people who couldn’t get brand new auto parts for his or her Jeep Cherokee and instead needed to settle for used parts offered by Jeep at high prices. Those people didn’t have an option in those days but that doesn’t mean you don’ possess a choice too.

In this day and age, the market for used auto parts is really a throbbing one. With the surge in e-commerce sites, individuals are very closer to the market now. Websites selling used auto parts are selling vehicle owners every kind of auto part they need. Such websites have reduced human effort involved in searching for used parts. You can find the part you’ll need in the click of a button whilst sitting in your own home. These websites have a big inventory list and tie-ups with major used part stores and salvage yards.
